I boycotted Walmart stores for about 6 months, but considering I live in hickville, where there are few other choices of places to shop - I had to start shopping there again.
Sure, they treat their badly. Yes, most of them are on government assistance, but where else can I buy paint, meat and underwear at the same time? PS ...........if Walmart paid a living wage - a higher calibur of worker would work there. |

eldragon, we boycott Wal-Mart but it's hard sometimes because not only do I know they offer lower prices than the SuperTarget I shop at but Wal-Mart also offers one product that I can't find anywhere else in town. Ah well, I stick to my morals and feel good about it.

You need to make sure to fill out the surveys online. The company itself really takes customer service seriously and they should know if the store isnt matching what the commericals preach.
I do shop wal-mart but i do it online. I hate all stores! You cant hire people to be nice no matter the training you give them. I dont think its fair to blame a store for rude people. |

I try to support other smaller retail chains when I can, simply because of the way they treat their employees and the fact that I usually get a smile and a "how are you today?" when I shop there. I would hit Kmart more often, but the two in town closed, while WalMart is up to three super centers here in town. If I want to go to a Kmart, I have to go to the next town over. But a friend and I decided we would make it a point to go there once a month, so I try to keep a list of things I can get more cheaply there and take it with me on that monthly jaunt.

In my experience, it does not matter where you go. Customer service is horrible everywhere these days. I shop there because its cheap. I shop other places as well, of course. I know a couple of people that work at the local Walmart and they say they are treated pretty much the same was as any other low-paying service job.

I am not a fan of Wal-mart, either. But, the prices can't be beat. I can get things significantly cheaper. I end up going to Wal-mart early in the morning to avoid major crowds and that helps with the lines. I really prefer Target, but we don't have a Super Target in our area.
Our Super Wal-mart even has better prices than major grocery stores who have sales!! In the end.. our wallet wins out, even when I truly don't like the shopping experience. |

I am not a huge wal-mart fan either to tell you the truth. It is always way too busy and as has been said it is hard to get good assistance. A lot of times their staff is not that friendly either.
