I think if you genuinely believe in a religion then it is natural to want to pass it on to your child. I don't follow any religion and if I had children then I would tell them 'christians believe this....buddhists believe that, and muslims believe the other...' then let them decide. But, if you genuinely believe in something, then wouldn't it seem odd to your child that you weren't passing on your beliefs?
Sure, teach tolerance and understanding, but teaching that doesn't mean you can't teach what you believe in at the same time.
