Very possibly. My father was incapable of expressing support, love or pride. With my son, I make it a point to praise him when he does something good, tell him I love him, and talk with him about things that are on his mind. I think that when you sense something missing in your relationship with your father, you do your best to make sure your child has what you did not get.
