Princess, take a good breath and calm yourself. As long as the vet doesn't see her, there is no point to despair. My first cat was born the same year as me. She lived 13 years old. I coudln't get attached to another cat, after her.

Fred has a few years left to live.

Depending on the size of the pill, hide it in a piece of lunchmeat. The cat should take it that way, since they don't chew their food (all they have are cutting teeth, no molars). My cat would, but he doesn't take any pills. If that doesn't work, go to the nearest pet store any buy a pill popper. Its a little device that pops the pill to the back of the cats mouth so they have to swallow it.
