Householders can now find out exactly how much they’re spending on electricity and gas from anywhere in the world using a new mobile phone app.
Current Cost, maker of energy monitors, has teamed up with Intamac Systems to launch the new home energy monitoring device with mobile connectivity.
The ENVI energy monitor sends power consumption statistics direct to the internet, where the information can be accessed from any PC or mobile handset.
Users can also find out how much energy they’re using compared to their neighbours, and download tips on making further energy savings.
Current Cost said energy monitors help households reduce energy use and their carbon footprint.
“Home energy monitors help consumers reduce their average energy consumption by as much as 15 per cent through cutting energy waste, making them a very cost effective tool with a fast pay-back period,” said Martin Dix, Current Cost CEO.
As well as making the data accessible on a website, Current Cost has launched an iPhone app that monitors home energy use.
We want to give homeowners the ability to remotely monitor and control their homes, with simple interfaces and mobile applications which adapt to peoples’ changing lifestyles and demands,” said Kevin Meagher, Intamac Systems CEO.
Neither firm mentioned the potential energy savings gained from ditching your mobile phone or turning off your energy monitor.
