Hot summer barbeque weather promised

This year, even though foreign holidays are out of reach of the average resident of the UK due to lack of funds in the current economic environment, not to mention pigs that are out to kill us all off with swine flu, at least the weather will be hot and dry.

Meteorologists said that evidence points to a much dryer summer in contrast to the rainy last two summers, with temperatures hovering around 14.4C and some temps even reaching over 30C.

This is great news for many species including crane flies, bats, and butterflies who may have reached extinction levels according to warnings by the National Trust that one more rainfall filled summer would deplete their numbers beyond hope.

This is also good news for tourism, since British holiday goers who stay home will head to the local beaches leading to a potential five million visiting the British seaside.

Pat Boyle who is a public weather service manager for Met office warned that this prediction cannot cover every day, so if it rains a few days in a row that is no reason to look for a holiday location outside of the UK.

According to the Met office the reason for the warm temperatures and clear forecast is because of warmer sea temperatures in the Pacific due to climate changes that are slowly taking place.

Since 1914 Britain has not had more rainfall then it did last summer.

Rainfall is predicted to be below average this summer, with the chance of a washout equalling only 30%.

It can only be a matter of weeks before the Daily Mirror uses the ‘Phew what a scorcher’ headline.
