Zumbox to bring snail mail online

An American website has given every postal address in the US a virtual online mailbox, potentially eliminating the need for traditional paper mail.
Zumbox - the world’s first all-digital alternative to snail mail - is completely secure, and every postal address in the US has automatically been signed up.
The technology will allow businesses, charities, government departments and other organisations to send correspondence direct to anyone’s digital mailbox - potentially saving millions of dollars in annual postage costs.
Financial statements, bills, direct mail, letters, and even catalogues can be sent via Zumbox.
The environmental credentials look good too - think of all the saved paper, and the carbon emissions that would be created transporting that paper around the country.
The one problem with the service is its reliance on recipients signing up for a Zumbox account to receive their mail.
Although every address in the US has a Zumbox, residents at each address still have to sign up for login details, which are sent by… snail mail.
The service is free to use, other than for marketers and advertisers.
