Recycled Materials Phones From Motorola

When we were about eight, my friend and I cut holes in the bottoms of two plastic coke bottles and attached them together to make a telephone, so that we could talk to each other from our adjoining houses.

Now, all these years later, I feel that we have a strong case against Motorola Inc for patent infringement.

The company has announced that it has followed up on our pioneering experiments (although they didn’t mention us by name, presumably for legal reasons) and are to release a new cell phone made from plastic water bottles.

The MOTO W233 Renew is a new phone that is trying to buck the trend of most electronic gadgets that have little or no green credentials.

The housing or case of the phone is made entirely of recycled plastics.

Motorola has set up an agreement with Carbonfund.org so that they can be in a position to offset their CO2 “debts” accumulated in manufacturing and repay those debts by investing in reforestation projects and investment in renewable energy sources.

Even the cardboard box the phone is packaged in will be made of 100% recycled materials.

Old phones can be sent back to the company with postage paid so that they can be recycled.

All these good deeds may just persuade us to hold off on our massive lawsuit, as long as they keep on at least trying to do their bit to save the planet.
