Comet may offer green insurance replacement goods

A recent survey of over 3000 participants noted that a full third of all people who claimed for household goods on their home insurance, would appreciate the option to “upgrade” to greener replacement items.
These items include so called “white”, “grey” and “brown” goods, and the respondents said that they would like these items available as “green” replacements should they need to make a claim.
The high street electrical goods giant, Comet, commissioned the report and admits that the response is conclusive and mirrors the “feeling” of company employees at its Replacement Services office, who have noted an increase in enquiries to see if such options are available
The company say that their customers are now more aware of environmental issues with regard to household appliances and are seeking options that are more “green”.
Comet does already have what it calls its ‘Green Collection’ of “white” and other goods.
They make their own energy assessments of a wide variety of items they offer, including DVD players and computers.
The results are then clearly displayed on the tickets for the items on the shop floor.
They will now move forward to consider ways to replace energy inefficient items with an equivalent “eco-friendly” version should the customer make an insurance claim through the company’s services.
