Activists condemn Sheikh’s car service 6500 miles from home

An unnamed Middle Eastern Sheikh was fortunate enough to purchase the car used by Batman in the new movie The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight which happens to be the word for Bat in Spanish was apparently purchased after shooting ended for £190,000.

Such a powerful and exotic vehicle is not cheap to run; it consumes a lot of fuel and needs a lot of regular maintenance to keep it in perfect running order. But if you can afford £3,550 for a regular service then that is your prerogative.

But the owner of this particular vehicle must have been to happy with his local “under the arches” garage and decided the only way to get a quality service was to fly the car to London and let a British mechanic change the oil and put in new spark plugs.

Of course this adds a little to the cost of the service, in fact having the car boxed up and set as cargo costs £20,000 from the Sheikh’s Qatar home to London and back, a distance of 6500 miles on national carrier Quatar Airways.

British Lamborghini enthusiasts lapped the story up as the sort of thing that a rich owner might do, with the Lamborghini Club UK applauded the excess’s that that the owner had gone to in order to get a good service for his super car.

According to the manufacturer they have a network of maintenance centre around the world but some clients consider that London has the most “kudos”

Environmental activist groups Friends of the Earth and Plane Stupid were not so impressed and held the incident up as an example of the waist and excess that wealthy people will go to in order to satisfy their personal needs while helping to pollute the environment.
