Car Sharing

Two related records were smashed last week, with oil on its latest high at $140 a barrel, and the UK’s car sharing community acquiring its 250,000th member.
Liftshare are marketing the benefits of car sharing to the UK community, and the UK is seeing the pressure, resorting to walking, chopping in the 4×4 for a Mini, or trying to drive more eco friendly.
Liftshare thrives on the fact that fuel prices are increasing by matching drivers with related passengers who want to share lifts to a mutual or the same location, and the company has seen a dramatic increase in members, especially since the UK saw the £1+ per litre.
Sharing lifts isn’t the only thing that’s increasing, the likes of Video conferencing instead of face to face business meetings, means less people on the road, less speeding fines, less road deaths, busier public transport and of course the eco industry is on the up, for instance, bicycle sales.
All of the above is common sense though, if people can ride to work and school now, they could have done so 10 years ago, but we’re too lazy, and with obesity steadily on an upward trend, hopefully the deterrent from driving will change the uptrend, into a downtrend, making for a healthier UK.
