New wind farm for Northern Ireland

Ireland’s Electricity Supply Board (ESB) is greening up its credentials with plans to build a €40 million wind farm.
The wind farm, to be built near Sixmilecross in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, is a first for the ESB, and will be constructed by ESB International (ESBI).
Six giant wind turbines will generate 18 megawatts of electricity, providing power to over 10,000 homes.
According to ESBI’s executive director, Michael McNicholas, the wind farm is being built to demonstrate the company’s ongoing commitment to sourcing energy renewably.
ESBI recently announced a €22 billion investment plan, €11 billion of which will be invested in renewable energy.
The group supplies BT with renewable energy, as well as maintaining the undersea cable that connects Northern Ireland’s energy grid to Scotland.
