Al Gore launches huge publicity campaign

Al Gore may have been something of a non event as a politician, but his environmental work has won him not only an Oscar but also a Nobel Prize. His group, the Alliance for Climate Protection has begun what it describes as ‘an all-out marketing blitz’ urging Americans to take action over climate change.

The organisations website, http://www.wecansolveit.org/ states, “When people unite and call for action, change is inevitable,” The Alliance is launching its first ever national TV and print campaign, entitled “Anthem.”

The commercials will run during major shows such as American Idol. There will also be a high profile print campaign including prestigious magazines like the New Yorker.

This three year push is expected to cost in the region of $300 million and is aimed at lobbying the government of the United States and other countries to take action over global climate change.

The first commercial seems to be setting the tone, which this problem has no social divides, as the Reverend Al Sharpton sits beside ultra-conservative Christian leader Pat Robertson, as they both urge for reform on environmental issues.

The Alliance’s spokesman Brian Hardwick said, “We are essentially issuing invitations to all Americans of all walks of life ¦to demand that leaders make this a priority,” and that “When I say leaders, I mean their own local leaders in businesses where they work, churches where they worship. We want people to demand from leaders of all kinds.”

He went on to say that, the Alliance website now has over one million registered members.
